MH Expands To A Tech Company, And Launches The Work-Life Wallet
On The Largest Stage In The World At Techcrunch
I wanted you to be the first to know, that yesterday, MH expanded from a community of mothers to a technology company propelling care into workplaces across the country and around the world. When I started MH a few years ago, I never could have imagined how much impact we would have. We went from discussions at coffee shops, hair salons, to co-working spaces and talking to employers across America. We hosted hundreds of career discussions, held space for mothers during the biggest caregiving crisis of our lifetimes - COVID19, pushed for policy changes in Washington and provided resources so you could navigate challenges at home and at work.
The pandemic forced millions of women out of the workforce, including myself. When we started asking you questions about why most of you left, it became clear that the workplace doesn’t support caregivers the way it should. One of the biggest themes we heard from you was that your employers provided multiple employee assistance programs (EAP), many of which were hard to use in real-time when the mental overload was high and you needed that support the most. One mom told me she had kept receipts from therapy but missed the deadline to turn it in for reimbursement, so she missed out on that support, and her family was out $250. Another mentioned that her company offered in-office childcare but she would have to haul her child to work everyday even when she wanted to work from home. It just didn’t quite fit. In general, EAP programs only see a 6% utilization rate which is abysmal when we have millions of women and families who are falling off the edge and need that financial and emotional support. As a mother of four with an overflowing plate of tasks and a tight budget, I took that feedback personally, and hired a team of engineers. We went to work.
Yesterday, on the largest technology stage in the world at Techcrunch, I launched MH At Work, introducing to thousands of investors and CEOs our very first product the Work-Life Wallet. Instead of your employers wasting millions of dollars on EAP programs that don’t work, they can redirect that cash directly into your hands and you can use it directly to purchase childcare, housekeeping, hire a chef, pay for baby formula, diapers, and any other unexpected care cost that comes your way. It’s super easy too, you can link your debit or bank account and we screen and verify work-life related expenses for reimbursement. You don’t need a receipt or another debit card that you may lose.
With MH, your Employers can stop making assumptions about what they think you need and instead give you the option to choose benefits that meet your unique and specific needs - childcare, eldercare, housekeeping, self care and more.
The future of work is care, and there are so many upsides for employers as well. 80% of employees admitted that caregiving affected their productivity. Employers do not measure and thus do not realize the extent to which employees are burdened financially, mentally, and physically by care. With MH At Work, employers now have unprecedented data and insights for the first time into the spectrum of care their employees provide, where the pain points exist, and how they are directly reducing the care load of their workforce.
I cannot wait to share more with you. If you think your organization will benefit from the Work-Life Wallet, please reach out to me directly at blessing@motherhonestly.com.
