This panel is presented by Fathering Together and Dadditude and will focus on how men and women can work together to build a culture of ownership at home in a way that allows everyone in the family to thrive and flourish. Brian Anderson is a husband and father to two spirited daughters that keep him inspired and exhausted every day. In his professional life, he’s been a social worker, community organizer, university chaplain and interfaith leadership development consultant. As the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Fathering Together, he brings those experiences to empowering fathers to be agents for social change. He has worked with dads from a variety of backgrounds to help them achieve deeper relationships with their families and connections in their work and communities. Brian is also an avid writer, reader, and amateur chef with his daughters assisting him in the kitchen.
Bryan Jackson is a husband and proud father to two biracial, interfaith children. His introduction into fatherhood started with a single question; how do I raise a proud, confident, and intelligent Black children in a world that may not see them as such? He used this driving question to galvanize other new fathers and founded attachMENt a Virginia-based fathers’ group that supports dads on their fathering journey. Bryan understands the importance of transforming the negative narrative about Black fathers and has used this passion to also co-create and co-host the Dad Genes: Exploring the DNA of Healthy Fathering Podcast where he and 2 other Black dads discuss the successes and challenges of fathering.
Dr. Singley is a San Diego-based board certified psychologist and Director of The Center for Men’s Excellence. His research and practice focus on men’s mental health with a particular emphasis on reproductive psychology and the transition to fatherhood. Dr. Singley won the American Psychological Association’s 2017 Practitioner of the Year Award from the Division on Men & Masculinities. He is Past President of the APA’s Section on Positive Psychologyand currently serves on the Board of the APA’s Society for the Psychological Study of Men and Masculinities and the President’s Advisory Council for Postpartum Support International. He conducts trainings and presentations around the country to assist individuals and organizations to enhance their level of father inclusiveness and founded the grant-funded Basic Training for New Dads, Inc nonprofit and Padre Cadre social networking application just for dads in order to give new fathers the tools they need to be highly engaged with their infants as well as their partners. In his free time, Dr. Singley likes to cook, surf, read, and drive his two sons to activities all over town so they can’t escape his annoying shrinky questions.
John Badalament, Ed.M. is the proud father of two teenagers. He is an accomplished writer, educator, consultant, speaker and documentary filmmaker. He is the author of The Modern Dad’s Dilemma: How To Stay Connected With Your Kids In A Rapidly Changing World and Director of the PBS documentary All Men Are Sons: Exploring The Legacy of Fatherhood.Â
Over the past two decades, John has spoken and consulted internationally in schools, government agencies, non-profit and private sector organizations.Â
His work has been featured on ABC News,CBS Sunday Morning, NPR, in Ms. Magazine, Men’s Health Magazine, and other major media outlets. He has been a contributing blogger at HuffPost, The Good Men Project and US News & World Report.
In addition to his role as Director of Training and Education at Fathering Together, John is a Senior Facilitator and Consultant at Orange Grove Consulting. OGC is a women-owned business specializing in research-based leadership development and bias-removal. Prior to joining Fathering Together and OGC, John served as the Director of Programs for The Fatherhood Project at Massachusetts General Hospital
